i do illustration and digital painting as a hobby — mostly geeky fan art stuff. it started in 2008 when i saw The Dark Knight. i was mesmerised by it from the opening scene and it ignited an artistic frenzy focusing on a certain pair of psychopathic clowns. as a kid i used to love watching Batman: The Animated Series on Saturday morning cartoons. after seeing Heath Ledger tear up the screen in TDK, and then reading Brian Azzarello’s graphic novel Joker (illustrated by Lee Bermejo), i immersed myself a in a fantasy version of fictional universe. Harley Quinn was my favourite character from BtAS. i liked imagining how the character might have fit into that gritty realistic cinematic world, and wondering who could have played a Harley to match Ledger’s Joker. this was years before Margot Robbie was even heard of, of course. i was team Brittany Murphy, for the record.
i drew other stuff occasionally, but for about five years from it was a crazy clownfest.
these days i don’t do a lot of drawing but i really want to get back into it. with the new Joaquin Phoenix Joker film coming out in October this year, i’m hoping i’ll get the bug again. someday i’d also like to start offering commissions for portrait work, character design and so on. here’s an example of a dog portrait:
